MARBURG SCHOOL OF ARTS- HELEN STEPHENS

Marburg School of Arts welcomes the work of Helen Stephens to the new Tommy Smith inspired gallery. Helen is an Artist with a strong and ongoing connection to the Ipswich, Marburg and Lockyer Valley regions. Her mother’s family owned a dairy farm in the area going back to the early 1940s. Helen was born and educated in Ipswich.

Her inspiration is in the world around her with vibrant colour and a stylised form utilised to create the spirit of each piece. Her paintings are fun interpretations of moments glimpsed in everyday back yards or country drives or anything else that appeals to her imagination. The long vistas and stunning scenery around Woodlands have inspired many of her artworks. She has always enjoyed interior design and garden design and her ultimate reason for painting her original artworks is to add character, warmth and value to a home or office. Helen has explored different art mediums and processes and has happily found her own artistic style encompassing painting and design. To date she has been entering various art shows and competitions and has won first, second and third prizes with the most recent being a ‘Highly Commended’ in the Brookfield Art Show. Her paintings are currently being exhibited at the D’Arcy Doyle Art Awards on the Gold Coast and, at times during the remainder of this year, they will be exhibited in the Somerset Bendigo Bank Art Awards, the Ekka Art Exhibition and, during the Carnival of Flowers in Toowoomba in September, they will be shown in the Downlands Art Exhibition. Also, Helen’s art hangs in the Art West Community Gallery at Mount Ommaney, and Café 41 at Kenmore. She has been very pleased to have sold to appreciative buyers.

A small collection of Helen’s work is showcased for the new Marburg School of Arts Gallery at Woodlands of Marburg, which will be officially openened in the coming weeks. Stay tuned for more info.
